Camping with small kids is hard.  Yet, it is also an important adventure not only for them, but for you.  What we introduce our kids to when they are young will stick with them for the rest of their lives.

This week is all about camping.  This first episodes gives you 7 tips for how to prepare for a camping trip.  Preparation will solve most of the problems before they even occur.  There are a lot of ways to mess it up – especially when young children are involved.  I cover a lot of ways I have found to make the process easier.

Episode 20 – Prep for camping

  1. Start close to home.  Do a practice run.
  2. Know the situation – weather, temperature at night, altitude effects
  3. What to pack
    1. Craigslist
    2. Tent
    3. Sleeping Bag
    4. Cooking
    5. Food preservation
    6. Kid Distraction
  4. Have a bail-out plan
  5. Pack
    1. in advance – don’t want till the last minute to pack
    2. Pack extras and
    3. expect to have forgotten something
  6. Bring easy-to-win food
  7. Go with friends
